Anthony’s soliloquy

simple:

‘that ever lived in the tide of times’  this sentences is showing how important Caesar is to Anthony. The tide of times means streams of history and that ever lived means that Anthony is comparing him to the greatest part of history that ever lived.

Compound:

‘That I am meek and gentle with these butchers!’ Anthony is apologising for being respectful and shaking the hands of those who kill Caesar. This shows that it isn’t real respect that he is showing to the conspiracy which could possibly lead to vengance.

Complex:

‘Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war, that this foul dead shall smell above the earth with carrion men groaning for burial’  this proves that Anthony wants vengance and the conspiracy dead. However he is doing it  because he thinks that Caesar was going to.

Task 3:

Anthony is angry with the conspiracy but he is approaching his vengeance with cunningness not anger. ‘That I am meek and gentle with these butchers!’ This shows  that he is not actually loyal to the conspiracy but, in a way, a double agent.

7. I think that geothermal energy is most suitable for heating a house as the heat is clean and long lasting. Furthermore it can be found merely meters beneath the ground . For running a car I think kinetic energy would be best because it would allow the car to keep moving. I think that nuclear energy should be used to boil a kettle as if it has enough to power wind turbines then it should be able of boiling a kettle. Once again I think that kinetic energy would be useful to fly a plane especially due to the size of it and how high it flies.

8. Solar energy, hydro energy and green power.

Scene 1 summary:
In this scene Caesar is returning from a war and people are celebrating. However the guards are questioning some people such as the cobbler who is really there to fix people’s shoes and earn money not to pay respect to Caesar ‘truly, sir, to wear out their shoes, to get myself more work. But indeed, sir, we make holiday to Caesar and rejoice in his triumph.’

Scene 2 summary:
Cassius and Brutus are discussing about Caesar, Cassius doesn’t like him and think little of the ‘immortal God’ as once he had saved his life ‘leap in with me into this angry flood.’ Then a few moments later
‘Help me, Cassius, or I sink!’ But even though Cassius was the true hero, he is still a slave that has to work hard for every of Caesars commands. Furthermore Caesar prefers Brutus and he has never saved his life.

Act 1 scene 3:
In this scene Cassius is trying to group men who will join him to betray Caesar. Furthermore he is attempting to get Brutus to join his group so that he can get the upper hand and find out information about Caesar and maybe his plans.

Shakespeare represents Cassius’ feelings towards Caesar by using exaggerations to emphasise the difference of respect between one another. ‘Like a colossus, and we petty men walk under his huge legs and peep about to find ourselves dishonourable graves.’ This shows that he wants to have more respect and not to be treated like slaves that are looked down on. He is especially annoyed as Caesar prefers Brutus.

I know that virtue to be in you, Brutus,
As well as I do know your outward favor.
Well, honor is the subject of my story.
I cannot tell what you and other men
Think of this life, but, for my single self,
I had as lief not be as live to be
In awe of such a thing as I myself.
I was born free as Caesar. So were you.
We both have fed as well, and we can bothr face
Endure the winter’s cold as well as he.
I know you have a good quality in you, Brutus.
I know how much you have it, as well as I know you.
You’re full of honour and that’s what I want to talk to you about.
I’m unsure of what you and other men feel
But I cannot live with this standard of life
I’d prefer to not live at all than to have to worship him
We were both bon as free as Caesar
We both eat the same
And we endure the same winter that he does.

Literary Essay

Despite presenting Richard as a villain, Shakespeare allows him to dominate the play. ‘To what extent do you agree with this'”

Richard is a mean and evil character but manipulates and intimidates others to get them to like him. Throughout the play he does not get caught for his bad deeds, until the end.

I agree with the statement because Shakespeare is always giving Richard soliloquies about his evil plans. He always manages to do bad things yet never is suspected. For example ‘In deadly hate, the one against the other; And if King Edward be as true and just This day should Clarence closely be mewed up About a prophecy which says that “G” Of Edward’s heirs the murderer shall be.Dive, thoughts, down to my soul. Here Clarence comes.’ This means that he has made it look like Clarence (George) has done the bad thing but no one has realised that his name is ‘Duke of  Gloucester.’ This shows that he is in control. It also shows his cruel side.

In addition, I also agree with the statement because during the play he manages to keep everyone on his side whilst being a bad guy. He consistently attempts to get Anne to love him and even though she keeps cursing him and says ‘I pour the balm of my helpless eyes’ However, Richard has a fast tongue and convinces her to marry him, he also tricks her and says ‘He that bereft thee, lady, of thy husband did it to help the to a better husband’ That means that he killed them because of his love for her. He is also claiming that he is a better husband. This proves his domination and evilness.

Another reason why Richard never gets caught is because he manipulates people. Furthermore, he is feared by others. For example when he is with his colleagues such as Buckingham, Grey and Catesby, he intimidates them into following him. This shows that others fear him and that shows control like influence and wickedness.

On the other hand, it could be considered that Richard does not completely dominate the play. As soon as he becomes king, he no longer dominates the play. For instance, people start to retaliate and rebel once he becomes king ‘My son George Stanley is franked up in hold, if I revolt off goes young Georges head’ This shows that he is evil but it shows he is not dominating the play, it also shows that as soon as he becomes king people are instantly against him.

It could also be said that Richard doesn’t control the play due to the fact that he dies at he end. If he dominated the play, everything would have gone his way. ‘ Alarum, enter Richard and Richmond . They fight, Richard is slain. Retreat and flourish.’ This proves Richard is defeated and can no longer dominate the play. Richard gets defeated quickly as well which shows people don’t fear him as much.

Others might think that Richard does not dominate the play due to the fact that people betray Richard and leave him. For example his once friend Stanley attempts to kill him’ Courageous Richmond, well hast thall aquit thee.Lo, here this long-usurp royalty from the dead temples of this bloody wretch have I plucked off, to grace thy brows withal. Wear it enjoy it, and make much of it.’ Which means I’m giving the crown to its rightful owner. This shows disobedience towards others and shows no domination.

transactional writing

Dear Mr. Dastagir,

The reason that I am writing to you today is because I would like to inform you about the poor quality of the physical activity facilities in our school. As a sports school, it is important our resources are of a high standard; I feel we need to accumulate funding in order to achieve this. Lack of equipment is a huge problem that needs to be dealt with quickly, as it would make a significant improvement to our school.

Most of the students that enrol into the London Nautical School expect to try out in all types of sports. Although we do numerous exercises in PE, we do not have that many activities after school because of the poor quantity of sport premises. We need this equipment to let pupils practise in their favourite sport. Furthermore, some pupils have nothing to do when we finish as their parents may work late. This is why we need more facilities for extra curricular activities.

Despite our reputation as a great physical education centre, our resources are unacceptable. During break times most of these locations are not accessible. Furthermore, in the year 11 playground there are cars parked within it. This is intolerable considering the perceived standards of our school. Sometimes during break it can be boring because people have nothing to entertain themselves with. If we have better sports installations students will always look forward to recess.  On specific days certain years would be allocated to particular facility. (e.g. Football, basketball or table tennis.) Recently, football club stopped because the cricket club are having their term to practise in the hall; I think that is awful considering we have chosen to attend a sports school.

I am in the youngest year of the entire school. Occasionally, some of the older years tend to push in front whilst others are waiting in line. This is unfair because then the students have to wait for even longer and sometimes do not get a turn at all. Therefore I feel like Year 7’s should get their old playground back as it would be fun and enjoyable for students who miss out on their break. However, if we had more facilities then our problems would automatically be solved.

Activities and sites are needed during break and lunch times. Therefore pupils can release their energy in order for children to focus and try their best during lessons. Especially as we have 6 periods and only 2 breaks a day. If this energy is contained, stored up inside us and not released then students would undoubtedly become more distracted.

To earn all of the money for the locations we would have to communicate and work well as a school. Our school council and teachers would have to set up lots of activities. Hence, they would have to write a plan addressing all of the details, with a reasonable pricing on it.

To get these centres we would use vouchers that people receive after buying items from their local stores such as Sainsburys, Tesco and Lidl. In addition we could do fun raisers such as tournaments, quizzes and own clothes days. I think that these are efficient methods that we could do to ameliorate the London Nautical School. It would be a step closer to becoming one of the greatest sports schools in England. Also I think that it would increase the popularity.

New facilities would keep people fit and healthy. This would be a huge asset to the world because over the past twenty-five years obese children have trebled. By making these facilities we would inspire other schools to follow in all of our footsteps.

Yours Sincerely

Callum Harris
